Medallion Quilt Along Border 3 part 3

Are you ready for the final step in border three.  This one is easy!  When your done your quilt should measure 48 1/2" x 48 1/2" if your bow ties are based on the 2" squares and 54 1/2" x 54 1/2" if your bow ties are based on the 2 1/2" squares.
For the corner posts from background cut 8- 2" x 5" rectangles, 8- 2" x 3 1/2" rectangles and8- 2" squares.  From scraps cut 16- 2" squares

Sew a 2" scrap square to the end of each of your 2" x 5" background rectangle (unit 1)
 Sew a 2" scrap square between a 2" background square and 2" x 3 1/2" rectangle (unit 2)
For each corner post you will need 2- unit 1's and 2 unit 2's.  Arrange so the 2" scrappy squares run diagonal through your block and sew together.  Make for of these.
If your bow ties are based off 2" squares arrange three tree blocks and three house blocks so they alternate as shown.  To the top and bottom borders add your corner posts.  Sew on the side borders.  Then sew on the top and bottom borders.

If your bow ties are based of 2 1/2" squares arrange your top and bottom borders so they start and stop with a house block and alternate with the tree blocks.  Use four house blocks and three tree blocks for the top and bottom borders. Then sew a corner post on each end.

For the side borders start and stop with tree blocks and alternate with house blocks.  Use four tree blocks and three house blocks.  Sew these to the sides of your quilt.  Then sew on the top and bottom borders.

Now your ready for next months border.
