Moving It Forward

In addition to finishing my Scrappy Bear Paw last week I made a lot of progress on my wonky rose garden. All the rows are sewn and I'm in the process of adding the sashing and setting triangles. I'm really excited about how this turned out. As I sew the rows together, more than half are done, I'm wondering if you have any tricks to make sure the sashing lines up. It's working alright but any tips to ensure success would be appreciated.
With these two scrap quilts finished or close I have a new scrap quilt forming in my mind. My blue bin is still quite full so I will be incorporating a lot of blue.

That is what I've moved forward now I'd love to hear about your progress.

  1. No tips from me! If I want to make sure they line up I use a corner stone where they meet (not sure if that is what is called) instead of long strips even if it is in the same color.

  2. Part of the charm for a quilt like this is things NOT lining up perfectly. Do what you can and then embrace whatever happens.

  3. I always use cornerstones in my sashing. Even if it's the same color. That way you always have a gauge to line up to. Love how this quilt is coming along.

  4. It's really turning out beautifully. I do a lot of sewing without pins, but lining things up is when I double down on pinning. Other than that, I try to embrace small imperfections as part of the warmth of the hand made look.

  5. I just love this wonky rose. I tried one of these blocks a couple of weeks ago after seeing your quilt. They are really fun! Your quilt is just wonderful.

  6. I really like this one. Great idea to go with two different background colors.

  8. Try tiny pencil marks in the sashing seam allowance, marking where the blocks are. And pin the heck out of it! Can't wait to see the finish

  9. I love how you made your trellis part of a landscape by making blue sky and green grass. Can't wait to see the finished quilt.
