Pajama Day

We have had the yuck at our house.  I was thinking I had dodged the bullet, wrong.  So my companions today are; a quilt to snuggle in, a box of tissue, and Quiltmaker magazine.  Especially Bonnie hunters scrap series.  I'm looking for a little inspiration on another scrap quilt.
My attire, scissor jammies and fuzzy socks.

A Celebration at Twisted Poesy's Return

She has been gone since before Christmas.  She enjoyed many adventures while she was gone.  But at last Twisted Poesy has returned.
Just in time to add her glory to that of the blooming crocus in my front yard.  True to the Moda fabric line she is made in it truly is the 'Best Day Ever'
We are happy to have her home.
And will enjoy her company.

Inspiration

I had the opportunity to speak yesterday.  My topic was self improvement through hobbies and recreational activities.  It got me thinking of all the wonderful people who have taught, inspired, and helped me to become the person I am today.  So I thought it would be fun to pay tribute to them through the quilts they inspired.

First, Mary Lou Weidman and her Bloom quilt that inspired my Naughty Garden.
Next Jacquie Gering's raw edge applique inspired my little family in It Takes a Village
My great grandma inspired my Love Ida quilt.
Victoria Findlay Wolfe is the inspiration behind my Plan B quilts
And Kathy Doughty's tulips were the inspiration for mine in Mary's Garden.
I am thankful to these and so many others that have helped me stretch, grow and become who I am.  I'm better because they have been a part of my life.

Mad Dash to Quilt Walk

The second weekend each June I head south.  First to Quilt Walk then to my parents to celebrate my mom's birthday.  This year I will be teaching Mad Dash.
A whimsical quilt made with freestyle churn dashes.  Bring your scraps, a background, and a sense of adventure to this fun class.
Next, I'll be teaching Sunshine on a Cloudy Day.  This quilt goes together quickly using TOAR.
While I'm enjoying adventures in quilting my hubby and sons are planning on riding motorcycles in Bryce.  DD would join the fun but she get to go to Europe this summer.  Her passport arrived recently and I can't tell you how fun it was to watch her reaction.  She danced, jumped, and exclaimed 'it's starting to feel real now!'
Lots of adventures at our house.  Would love for you join me on mine in Panguitch.

Just Right

It is a simple block.   I don't know why it gave me such trouble.
But it took me three tries to get it the right size.  My first attempt I didn't take into account how much the cross would add to it.
My next attempt feel short.  But I persevered and did the thing I should have done in the first place, a little math.  This one came out just right.
It made me think of this saying I saw on Facebook.  I was feeling like one of those four people.

I now a block for my project and two for another Plan B quilt.

A Little Dresden Family

During the past week my lone Dresden has made a friend and together they have created a little family.  To accommodate this growing family I made more background as a happy home.
I'm still trying to decide if the baby Dresdens should be held by their parents or play close by.

Seven Sisters

I did it!  I did it! I did it!  My scrappy strippy stars are quilted, bond and ready to share.  Thanks for sharing in my excitement.  It's so nice to have good friends to share happy news with.  It makes that much more fun!
If you've missed the progress of this quilt you can read about it here, here, and here.  I quilted stars in the border.
Echoing circles and lines in the center.  Figuring out how to quilt my quilts is not my strong suit.  My skills are not such that I feel confident.  So I stick with simple.  But I think simple worked well this time.
How do you decide how to quilt your quilts?  I'd love to hear your process.  I'm linking with Sarah and Cynthia to celebrate with others.  After all that's half the fun.  (Sharing the joy with others.)

Sharing a Little Love

Valentine's Day is Saturday.  It's one of my favorite holidays.  Sharing a little love is so much fun.
I've been putting silly Valentine jokes in lunchs since the beginning of the month.
I had to smile yesterday as I watched my daughter going through her yearbook making Valentines.  She wanted to make sure she didn't forget anyone.
Today she and her friends are giving a heart attack to a neighbor who will be coming home from the hospital today.  (Decorating their yard with colorful hearts)
I've been collecting things for my sweet hubby and children to make them fun Valentines.  My sweet Hubby has asked me out for a special night.  I'm looking forward to it.
What fun things are you doing to celebrate those you love?

More From the Scrap Bag

I pulled out my pink, yellow and orange scrap bins and began cutting blades for Dresden plates.  Sewed them up and pressed each blade.
Next I pulled out my blue scrap bin and began sewing pieces together to create a background.  Finally I sewed my blades together to create this cute little Dresden plate.
I'm liking it so that I think it needs to grow.  Am I the only one with this problem?  I think I'm making a wall hanging and before I know it I have a queen size quilt.  Linking up with the lovely Sherri and her Scraps Monday.

Shout Out

I was hoping to have my scrappy strippy stars finished to show today.  But other things took precedence, maybe next week.
But I did want to share these lovely 'quilty hugs' and give a shout out to Sarah's Hands 2 Help.
I am so thankful to Sarah for choosing 'quilty hugs' again.  These beautiful quilt will go to bring comfort to those fighting cancer in a Box of Love.  I appreciate everyone's help to make this possible.
I hope you will join in and share a little love.

Elements

I've been working on my Spot on Challenge.  I made nine patches and quartered them into disappearing nine patches.  Set them on point and added a plain alternate block.
I also made a bunch of dotty flying geese.
To add to my word surrounded by half square triangles.
Now that I have all the elements I just need to put them together. Pre-Order Retro Mama Scrap Happy Sewing and Get a Free eBook at Stitch Craft Create Save 20% at the Hobby Warehouse with Offer Code HOBBY20

Going, Going Gone with Hexigones

I saw these cuties on Flying Blind On A Rocket Cycle and thought they were just so darn cute.  But really had no desire to make my own.
Then in St. George one of the ladies in my class showed me some hand piecing she was doing.  It was lovely.  She told me how much she enjoyed it.  That is was a great project to keep with her and do while she waited at Dr. offices, watched kids games, etc.
That got me thinking.  Maybe I should get me a hand project.  I do enjoy them.  They relax me.   Then I saw these on Nellie's Niceties and she had free templates.   And I was hooked.
She does hers English paper pieced.  I found the star point fiddly with that method.  So I'm just hand piecing mine.  I started by cutting out enough to getting me started.
Then sat back and enjoyed stitching one.
