I had a delightful visit with my Grandma Wednesday. Our visits have been less frequent as she has been in California taking care of my aunt. I've really missed her while she has been gone. She will be leaving today to go back so it was nice to have a little time with her. She has been going through things and while I was there she gave me a few treasures. This great basket and fabulous quilt top that her mother made.
I had hubby hold it up to show you all it's beauty. I felt a connection with my great grandma when Grandma told me that all her mothers quilts were to short. I don't know if she remembered telling me last December how my dad had come out to visit her and my aunt. They had made him a bed and given him the quilt I had made for my aunt to use for the night. She told me how it was to short for him. That if he pulled it up to his neck it didn't cover his toes. Great Grandma and I must think alike. Although in my defense I only intended the quilt to be a throw.
Grandma has two more quilts her mother made. I so wish I had brought my camera to Grandma's so I could have taken a picture of them to share with you.She told me if my aunt doesn't want them she will ask my mom. As we were going to lunch she said, " I know you are going to go home and tell your mom if I offer her any quilts she is to say yes."
I told her she knows me to well. And as soon as I got home that is just what I did. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that my aunt doesn't want them. Wishful thinking maybe but I'm still hoping.
