Wild Goose Chase Block 9

It's week nine of the Wild Goose Chase.  How are your blocks coming?  I hope you liking them and how they all look together.  Here are mine along with this weeks addition.  I must say when I only had a few blocks I was doubting my decision to make an all solid quilt.  But with each addition I like them more and more.
For this weeks block you will need:
3- 3 1/2" geese find instructions here
8- 2" geese (now I know we have not made these before but the method is the same. If using the rulers cut 8- quarter squares from a 2" strip for geese and 16 half squares from a 2" strip for sky.  If your not using the rulers you will need 8- 2" x 3 1/2" rectangles for geese and 16-2" squares.  Then just sew them as you would the other sizes.)
2- 3 1/2" squares of sky fabric
2- 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangles of sky fabric
First sew a 3 1/2" square to either side of a 3 1/2" goose blocks

Sew your remaining 3 1/2" geese blocks together as shown.

Then sew the 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangles to either side of this unit.

Sew all the 2" geese together in a row as shown.

The the 2- 3 1/2" geese unit to the right side of the 2" geese strip as shown.

Finally sew the remaining 3 1/2" geese unit to the left side of the 2" geese strip.

Yeah! your block is complete.

  1. Those look incredible together!

  2. Your Geese are really coming along beautifully, Em.
Congratulations! I just saw one of your patterns in Hancocks latest catalog!

  3. I am sooooo luvin' your color choices!

  4. I like the way all the different flying geese blocks look when placed side by side. An interesting look and would be fun to play with.

  5. Your geese look fantastic all together like that. I am a bit behind with my geese. I have a deadline for another project and I have been working on that. Hope to get to the geese soon.

  6. This is such a great quilt! Love the solids.

  7. Thanks for showing all the blocks together - really highlights the blocks and colours and how they all work together. Thanks for all this hard work!
