Life's A Dance

On Monday my dear friend, Kalyn's grandmother passed away.  She had suffered from alzheimer's for the past several years.  The family asked that in lieu of flowers food be donated to the local food bank or a donation be made for alzheimer research.  So I decided to make this quilt and donate it to The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative in honor of her grandmother.
Her grandmother loved to dance.  She was one of the dancing grannies.  And her and her hubby went dancing every weekend.  It was the one thing she never forgot.  So I appliqued a silohette of two people dancing before a rising and or setting sun to represent her wonderful life and her love of dancing.  And although she is in a better place she will be missed.

A beautiful little quilt and so appropriate with the dancing couple. You put some thought into the design and I am sure the family will understand it right away.

I just realized this reminds me of the Death Cab for Cutie song "Stay Young Go Dancing" :-) It's a sweet song, you should check it out if you haven't heard it.

The quilt is absolutely lovely and so touching the thought behind it. I know her family appreciated your very special gift to the Alzheimers Art Quilt Initiative.
