Free and Easy

I took a machine quilting class while I was at Quilt Fest last week.  I throughly enjoyed it.  Lisa Brothman was the teacher and she did a beautiful job.  We started with our name and then she gave us other designs to try.  Some came easy others not so much as you can see from this sample.
But by the end of class I was feeling much better about my free motion quilting and was enjoying playing with the many designs she taught.

One of my favorite parts about the class was when she taught bobbin drawing.  What a fun way to use heavier threads and get a new effect on your quilting projects. I see a lot more of this in my future.

  1. Oh how lovely.Im so amazed I learned something new here Em,bobbin drawing.I never heard of that. How interesting. Thanks for sharing.I do have to get a machine somehow that would help with trying out different things for making quilts.I think maybe the doll quilts could be made by hand? I love those.

    Happy Wednesday!

  6. Oh, that looks fantastic! This is something that I really should sit down and spend time working on. I am still basically a straight-line quilter. The most adventurous I ever get is to follow the lines around applique! :-)

I'm excited to see more of your bobbin drawing. I have no idea what that means, but I like the results!
