MY KIDS LOVE SALSA!!!!

So I've been picking tomatoes and peppers from my garden
Chop, chop chopping everything up.
Everything that is but onions. Lucky me my neighbor was in charge of a luncheon and had a big bag of chopped onions left over. She needed a home of for them. Knew my kid loved salsa and I would be canning so called to see if I could use them. So no burning eyes and no tears over this salsa. Then throwing it all in the pot to cook down.

Tonight I should have lots and lots of salsa that just might last until next fall.

Sew and Tell- Love

I'm lovin' this quilt. I love the pink and brown color combo. I like the movement the blocks create. The pattern is available here (it's my Breathe pattern, a shame less plug, I know.) Not only is it made in Amy Butler's 'lovely' fabrics, mostly midwest modern. I finished in time to be part of Amy's Sew and Tell using Amy Butler fabric. Thank you Amy for the push I needed to finish this quilt. I quilted it with organic lines, learned from Jacquie and Beth. I'm really happy with the effect.

Not only am I thrilled with my quilt. That handsome young man, you see below, is my son. He is shaking hands with the Dean of Students. Yesterday he was honored for being in the top 1% of students. Yes I am a proud mamma.

Picking Up Crumbs

A little confessional here. While I was going to school my floor did not get mopped. Sad I know. But I left for school when DD left and I got home 15 minutes after J did. And I don't know how things happen at your house but I find mopping my floor when the kids are around is futile. Before it is even completely mopped someone is walking across it. ERRRR. It did get swept and swiftered (I love that little gadget). But a good mopping waited until yesterday. Then while the kids were away the floor got a good scrubbing.
After that I figured I had earned a reward so I headed for my sewing room. Gathered an ice cream bucket of crumbs (Isn't that a fun way to store scraps? Heaven knows I have enough of them.) and pieced a back for my crumb cake quilt.
Hopefully today I will get it quilted. Then when I've finish my Amy Butler Love quilt for Amy's sew and tell, I just have one more side to bind. Yippee! I will get this one bond. I'm thinking of a scrappy binding. What do you think?

Pineapple Progress

I made another 16 pineapple blocks to add to the ones I showed here. I wanted to see how they would look all together so I cleared off the design wall so there was room for them. Here they are all together. I so wish this picture did them justice but alas it is sadly lacking. I like how it looks on the design wall soooo much better.
So much so that I'm wanting it to be bigger. So I will be making at least 11 more blocks, if not more.

Scrappy Sew and Tell

Sorry the blog has been put on the back burner the last few weeks. I just had to let a few things slide while I finished my CNA class. I've finished the classroom part and will finish up my clinicals by the end of the month. Yeah! Then I get a break until January when I will take some classes at the university so I can get admitted into the nursing program.
Now that my class work is done and I'm no longer studying for tests, I've found a little time to sew. DD has been wanting one of these scrappy Scottie dogs since I made my first one. The first one found a home with my two year old niece. So I pulled out my 2 1/2" square drawer and made one for her. It still needs an eye and a collar. But she stole it as soon as I had it stuffed so I have not had a chance to finish it up. I'll be linking up with Amy's Sew and Tell. Make sure you go visit and sew what other wonderful finishes have been made this week. She is doing an Amy Butler sew and tell next week. I'm hoping to be a part of it. I just need to quilt and bind my Amy Butler Love project. Wish me luck.

Scrap Happy Summer Prizes

Sorry this post is so late, actually I'm feeling good that I made it today. What with hubby's surgery (He is doing well), school, and just plain life I'm amazed I've got any sewing in. Scarp Happy Summer Parade

Well here we are at the end of summer, time to show what you were able to do with all your beautiful scraps. And since summer is the perfect time for a parade and there are so many wonderful projects that have been completed I thought it only fitting that we have a parade of all our scrappy projects. I'll start.
First I was able to complete 7 of these. Four for exchanges and three for me. I'll be making more while my hubby is in surgery tomorrow. I'm hoping it will help the time pass quickly. I made and put together all of these crumb blocks. It is still waiting to be quilted. But winter is a good time for that and we are heading that way, at least in the northern hemisphere.

I made and put together these blocks. I want to make one more row. It needs to be a little bigger.

This little wall hanging now graces the wall at the top of my stairs. A gentle reminder to my kids.

I made eight of these blocks and have centers made for 12 more. Someday they will make a big cozy quilt.

This little experiment put a small dent in my 2" strip pile and I hope it is making someone very happy.
